Product Evaluation Systems (PES), Inc. is an independent testing laboratory, specializing in mechanical, metallurgical, chemical and nondestructive testing and analysis. The company has been in business since 1979 and has grown over the intervening years to its present staffing complement of 15. The company moved into larger premises in 1996. The new building, located 30 miles east of Pittsburgh on the outskirts of Latrobe in Unity Township, has over 15,000 sq. feet of laboratory, machine shop, high-bay and office space.

From its first day of business, PES has been proud to offer exceptional personalized response to customer needs. The company includes a strong cadre of core personnel with 20-40 years of individual experience in machining and testing and metallurgical evaluation. Expertise is based on service with several local corporations, including Westinghouse and U.S. Steel.

PES has received accreditation from the National Aerospace Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) and the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 through the Performance Review Institute (PRI). Accreditation awarded to PES covers mechanical testing, test specimen preparation, metallography, hardness testing and nondestructive evaluation.

Through affiliation with MCS Associates, a consulting company housed on the same premises specializing in materials structure/ property evaluations, failure analysis and litigation support, PES is able to offer its clients a complete service. The reasons for nonconforming mechanical test data can be investigated on the spot. Prototype development studies, involving a combination of testing and analysis, can be undertaken. The combined company capabilities, giving clients not only a rapid response to testing needs but also offering metallurgical analysis of the underlying reasons for unacceptable data, is an advantage PES and MCS are proud to provide.
